Let’s explore some of the most isolated villages, unforgiving dirt roads, deadly river crossings – all bundled in an epic 10 -day road adventure!

The Indian Border Road Organisation has opened a new circuit in 2019 for better connectivity to the Zanskar region in an effort to find a shorter way between Keylong and Kargil for the Indian Army. At 16,580 feet above the sea level, Shinkula Pass connects the Zankar region to Keylong.

Navigate through the Toughest Passes and roads on a Trip to Zanskar via Shinkula Pass. The rock-strewn roads on the way will reward you with gorgeous vistas that will make this trip worthwhile!

Day 1: Manali (07th June)

Report at Manali by the early evening.

Reach Manali, Check-in in the hotel. Our team will do scrutiny of your vehicles. Meanwhile meet your fellow travellers and get ready for the most adventurous trip to Zanskar. Drivers briefing at 6.00 pm followed by dinner!!!

Day 2: Manali – Jispa

After Breakfast leave from Manali. We drive through the Atal tunnel and start our journey to Jispa, a small village on the banks of Bhaga River (a tributary of Chenab) in Lahaul region. This is the best place to acclimatization yourself in high altitude.

JISPA is the ideal place for overnight stay to acclimatize your body to get used to the high attitude. Jispa, an oasis of tranquillity is situated at an altitude of 10,890 feet.

Day 3: Jispa- Kargyak -Purne (09th June)

Early start with lots of excitement. Today’s route will take you over 3300m above sea
level to over 5000m above sea level at Shinkula Pass. From Shinkula, the descend starts and takes you to 3500m above sea level in less than 10 km, so make sure you check your brakes before you start descending.

Once at Shinkula Pass in Zanskar, you head to Kargyak Village. The road from Shinkula Pass to Kurgiakh Village is 21 km long and the road is quite challenging.

You’ll soon be rewarded for your hard work by stunning views of Gonbo Ranhjon, a
massive conical mountain that stands tall and mighty in the middle of the cold desert.
The mountain is one of the most sacred among the people of Zanskar.

Reach Purne by late evening and rest well.

Day 04: Purne – Padum (10th June)

Get up early and visit Phugtal monastery. The monastery is a 40-minute hike from the village. The structure of the monastery is awe-inspiring, and the fact that it is built in a cave which is more than 2,500 years old, will make your experience even more
overwhelming.

After visiting Phugtal go deeper into Zanskar Valley, to a town called Padum. After
visiting and living in remote villages, entering the significantly big town of Padum is sure to be a welcoming change.

The short route from Purney to Padum is a fascinating one, rife with gorgeous views,
and vast open valleys with the occasional challenge of off-roading.

Reach by early evening and explore the market.

Day 05: Padum-Drang-Drung view Point- Padum (11th June)

Today we will drive till Drang Drung Glacier viewpoint; It’s a Beautiful drive. Visit Statso– Langtso Twin Lakes and enjoy the Picnic Lunch. Spot wildlife including Marmots on theway. After Exploring this beautiful valley, start back towards Padum.

Day 6: Padum-Lingshed – Sir Sir La- Lamayuru- Nurla (12thJune)

Today’s drive is for adventure seekers and thrill junkies who love offroad and
adventurous drive. Through a narrow gorge, on roads barely wide enough for one car,
and climbs so steep that your vehicle will stall, it is a route that will get your heart
pumping and will remain etched in the memory for life.

Its beautiful driving next to the Zanskar river. After Shamsher Bridge, you will be
almost at the same level as water.

After crossing Lingshed, reach Singe La Pass which is 16,590 ft. It may not be the
highest motorable pass in the world but it’s no less in terms of difficulty. The steep
incline and the tricky roads will give you a true taste of adventure and off-roading.

Adventure continues, cross Sirsir La Pass which is the second high-altitude pass on this route. It is at an altitude of 15,700 ft and offers great views of the surrounding valley and the snow-capped peaks.

There is no idea of time taken till Nurla, but we will try to reach before it gets dark. Enjoy beautiful stay at Hotel Apricot tree by the side of Indus River.

Day 07: Nurla – Leh (13th June)

After Breakfast start your journeyt owards Leh. It’s a short drive. Explore Leh and around as per your choice.

Day 08: Leh (14th June)

After breakfast explore the city. Sightseeing is always an individual’s choice; some prefer to go for river rafting while others want to explore monasteries.

So be a free bird today and roam around. Places to visit around Leh are Stok Palace,
Stakna Monastery, Thiksey Monastery, shanti stupa etc. You can also visit Magnetic hills, Pathar sahib Gurudwara, Confluence of Zanskar and Indus at Nimoo. Do not hesitate to click as many pictures as u can.Meals Included- Breakfast

Day 09: Leh – Jispa (15th June)

Start early and drive on one of the most beautiful – Leh-Manali Highway. Each turn and twist of the road is mesmerizing. Reach Jispa by the Late Evening and relax.

Day 10: Jispa-Manali (16th June)

A short Drive to Manali. Relax back or explore as per your choice.

Day 11: Departure (17th June)

Leave back as per your convenience

  3. Maximum 4 Person per car is recommended.
  4. The charges specified are for each crew member in the participating vehicle and includes accommodation on twin sharing basis along with breakfast, packed refreshments and dinner at the specified halts and night halts as specified in the itinerary, inner line permits, local guides, medical assistance with oxygen and medical supplies, service crew.

– In case of rough weather, we have the full discretion, whether to go ahead with              the trip/expedition or not. In case of cancellation due to rough weather, we will            provide you with an alternate trip
