Day- 05- Sural Bhatori – Bairagarh – Sach Pass- Khajjiar

After soaking in the tranquil beauty of Sural Bhatori, with its untouched greenery and crystal-clear streams, we gear up for one of the most challenging yet unforgettable drives of the expedition—from Sural Bhatori to Dalhousie via Sach Pass, covering over 200 km of raw, rugged Himalayan terrain.

Post breakfast, we begin our ascent to Sach Pass, rightfully hailed as the ‘Big Daddy of all mountain passes’.

At a staggering altitude of 4,500 meters, this high-altitude gateway cuts through the formidable Pir Panjal range, connecting the isolated Pangi Valley with the more accessible regions of Chamba and Dalhousie. The route tests both man and machine, with its narrow roads, unpredictable weather, and sheer cliffs—but rewards you with surreal landscapes that defy imagination.

Reaching Sach Pass is not just a milestone—it’s a badge of honor. The 360-degree views of snow-draped peaks, deep valleys, and dramatic cloudscapes create a memory that lasts a lifetime.

As we descend from the pass, the road continues to challenge us till Tissa, after which the terrain smooths out and opens into familiar roads leading to Dalhousie.

This day is not just about covering distance—it’s about conquering fears, pushing
limits, and witnessing nature at its most raw and majestic.

Both Trella (twenty km from Tissa) and Bairagarh are connected with a motor road. The village is a quite retreat overlooking a panorama of the Himalayan peaks. Earlier Trella was the main business centre for Pangi. Being the last bus terminus, all supplies were taken on head load or on the backs of sheep and goats. Mules crossed the pass for first time in early eighties.
